Aim of the Carl-Zeiss-Foundation is to create free space for scientific breakthroughs. As partner of excellent science it supports fundamental research as well as application-oriented research research and teaching in the MINT field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology). Founded 1889 by the physicists and mathematician Ernst Abbe, the Carl-Zeiss-Foundation is the oldest private science promoting foundation in Germany. It is the exclusive owner of the Carl Zeiss AG and SCHOTT AG. It’s projects are financed by the dividend distribution of the two foundation companies.
